It has a period of unrest and opportunity in the galaxy.
The Galactic Empire struggles to maintain control in
the midst of civil war. Meanwhile, scoundrels and
smugglers, explorers and expatriates, and fringers of
all types scramble for a living on the edges of
galactic civilization. It is a hard life, but these
renegades have more freedom and opportunity than
any citizen of the Core Worlds.
On the desert world of TATOOINE, a few such
renegades have run afoul of a local crime boss,
TEEMO THE HUTT. Trapped in the tiny spaceport of
Mos Shuuta, the renegades have no choice but to
steal a starship and flee Teemo’s forces.
Fortunately, a suitable starship has recently
docked at the landing bay: a freighter called the
KRAYT FANG, captained by a Trandoshan slaver
named Trex. As they flee through the suns-baked
streets, the renegades duck into the local cantina
to hide from their pursuers…
Our Crew; Pash a smuggler, An’karr a young Twi’lek, and Hygaar of Clan Ursa found themselves in a spot of Trouble with their former employer; Teemo the Hutt.
It was not but a few days ago that Hygaar, whom was working as a hired merc for Teemo, finally drew the line when he escorted a handful of slaves that were to used and abused by Teemo. Among them was An’karr.
It was then Hygaar knew it was time to get out of town and save anyone he could, but he would need help. So he enlisted the help of one of Teemo’s pilots; Posh, who also found himself in the deep end after having dropped a large shipment of spices for Teemo and damaging his ship beyond repair in the process.
And so, they found themselves running from several of Teemo’s thugs and ducked into the local cantina, where inevitably, a fight broke out. They made short work of the gamorreans.
Acting on a tip, they decided the best way out would be to steel the very ship that An’karr had been taken prisoner on; the Krayt Fang. A modified YT-1300 captained by an infamous Bounty Hunter and Slaver, Trex. The only problem was that the Krayt Fang needed a Hyper-matter Reactor Igniter (HMRI) in order to hit light-speed, which they would need in order to escape the clutches of Teemo.
As luck would have it the local junk dealer, Vorn, happened to have one in stock that was previously promised to Trex. But An’karr was able to haggle Vorn into selling it to them, and even at a reduced price!
Their next stop was the local spaceport; they would need to release the docking clamps on the Krayt Fang if they were to make their getaway. An’karr used his roguish charm on the Overseer of the Spaceport, Brynn, in order to allow access to one of their computers.
After releasing the docking clamps it was a simple matter of getting to the Krayt Fang and absconding with it. However they found it prudent to take their route through the back alleys of Mos Shuuta, as it would appear Imperial Stormtroopers were snooping around the town looking for someone, and on the advice of Pash they decided they shouldn’t risk any run-ins should it be them they were looking for.
When they got to the Hangar they found Trex waiting for them along with several Battle Droids, he had been tipped off to their plan somehow.
A short and bloody battle took place that resulted in the death of Trex, but the crew didn’t stick around to take care of the rest of the droids as Stormtroopers had made their way into the hangar and appeared to be setting up a large blaster; it was them they were looking for after all.
Hygaar drug Trex’s corpse into the loading bay of the Krayt Fang and made way to a gunner position, while An’karr installed the HMRI, and Posh made his way to the cockpit. They needed to get out of Mos Shuuta, and fast.
They managed to lift-off in the aging vessel but a pair of Tie Fighters persued them. With some luck and a great deal of skill they blasted the Tie Fighters to spacedust just as the HMRI finished warming up. Pash quickly launched into lightspeed, leaving the cruel world of Tatooine behind them.
